As is usually the case when things are going wrong for a side, there's been a lot of talk from the players which somehow isn't getting translated to performances on the field. Nathan Astle, in his column for the Herald, points out the need to "bat to a plan". Proper planning is something you feel has been lacking in the build up to the World Cup. But, looking at it another way, the players may be falling behind on account of thinking too much about their game, and over-complicating the task(s) at hand. You can't afford to be complacent, yet you need to be in a relaxed frame of mind when it comes to clarity of decision-making on the field. I wonder how Dan and co. will go about finding the balance.
Putting an end to bizarre selections would be a start. No Jamie How at number seven, restore Oram and Mills to the starting lineup, and get on with it.

Agree on Jamie How, complete mystery selection. We did the same sort of funny nonsense in 2003 with Vincent keeping, Vettori opening, sometimes Macca opened, Astle at three, McCullum at 4 once.
The Black Caps should be very careful about todays match, don't mess around with the Zimbabwe spin and fielding.
