Central v Wayamba

Three posts ago I had a nice rant about Central Districts' shoddy batting in the Chennai game. Huge improvement followed in the next two games, thanks mainly to Jamie How, even if the bowling predictably suffered a bit. Still, at least the Stags have been competitive after all that questioning about whether kiwi sides should be allowed to play in the Champions leage at all, and I didn't find time to blog about all this. Typical.

I really hope the Stags find it in them to close tonight's game. So far, they've had a better tournament than the Wayamba side which boasts Jayawardene, Mendis and Herath. For that to happen, Mathew Sinclair or someone else will have to step up with the bat whether or not captain How has an off-day. You get the feeling the bowling is a bit too raw to successfully defend a middling target in this format. Doug Bracewell and Adam Milne got hammered in the Warriors game but will be better for the experience.

Tonight's is very much a Wooden Spoon battle. As consolation, thanks to RCB's win last night, one Central Stag at least has made it to the semifinals.
